JANUARY/FEBRUARY - HELLEBORES (genus Helleborus)






'Plant of the Month' for both January and February is the lovely Hellebore, commonly called the 'Lenten Rose' or ‘Christmas Rose’. Hellebores are great plants for adding colour to gardens in late winter and early spring when little else may be flowering. They are evergreen so retain their large, textured leaves all year round and their flowers come in a variety of colours, from white to deep purples and greens.  Hellebores are hardy perennials, low-maintenance, easy to grow and tolerate shade, therefore making them particularly good for brightening up shady areas.
